Contemporary Art in the East of Scotland
Alexander Muir is from Dundee.
In 1945 he became a student at Dundee College of Art where he was a star student of MackIntosh Patrick.
In 1950 he received a Diploma of Art and an RSA travelling scholarship, then studied until his National Service in 1951-53.
In 1953-54 he worked for the British Road Service. 1955-61 found him working for D.C. Thomson, Process Department. From 1963 to 1988 Alexander Muir was teaching Art. He had a one man show in the Dundee Art Society rooms in 1975. His retrospective in The Scottish Gallery was in 2005.
